The Maths and Physics internships are an excellent way to experience what the teaching career is really like. They are an immersive experience which gets you involved in the life of a school rather than watching it pass before you. In addition to being a great opportunity to help you chose a career in teaching there is funding to pay you £300 per week.

The Maths and Physics internships are both four weeks long. Over this time you will:

  • Receive expert training in key teaching skills including subject specific pedagogy
  • Observe various expert teachers in your chosen subject area
  • Work with students in the classroom in a supporting capacity
  • Deliver small portions of lessons including starter activities
  • Have the opportunity to teach entire lessons
  • Carry out a small project on a specific pedagogical focus
  • Have tailored one-to-one mentoring sessions with experienced teacher mentors
  • Hear testimony from current and recently graduated trainee teachers
  • Receive expert guidance about how to enter the teaching profession


To qualify for the paid for internship you must:

  • Be in the penultimate year of a Maths or Physics related degree course
  • Have a grade C or above in English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Be able to complete the internship between Monday 18th June and Friday 13th July
