On Thursday 20th October we took 3 High Flyers teams to the County School’s Boccia Competition held at Queen Elizabeth School. The day consisted of lots of very close games, our teams displayed excellent tactics throughout the day, and the students that went should be very proud of their achievements. Unfortunately we got knocked out of the competition in the quarter finals to Allenborne Middle School.
St Edward’s plays host to the annual Poole and East Dorset Schools Netball League for Year 9, 10 and 11. The Year 11 league was an exceptionally close competition with the top three schools being separated by only 2 points. A massive well done to the Year 11 girls who took part in the competition, they demonstrated excellent drive, determination and motivation and because of this finished in 3rd place overall. Well done girls, keep up the fantastic work. The Year 10 league started on Wednesday 2nd November and our Year 10’s currently sit in 2nd place on goal difference. Good luck to the girls for the remaining matches, let’s hope a medal is in sight!
The evening of Tuesday 18 October saw sixteen teams from schools across Dorset go head-to-head in the Annual Geographical Association GCSE World Wide Quiz. St Edward’s Schools teams finished in a very respectable position mid-table. The event also helps to raise money towards a charity chosen by the host school. This year £160 was donated. The money will be used to support Samara’s Aid Appeal, a charity that helps – provide humanitarian and medical aid to areas in the Middle East impacted by conflict.
