“Eye really love your lessons Sir!!”
After a intensive PPE examination period last week, Mr Dell’s triple science students carried out an eye dissection in their Biology lesson this morning. Students have been learning about why humans have such poor night vision.
Here is Nick Wilke “focusing” his interest on the lens.
Last week, sixth form students were joined by Year 10 Triple Science students at Bryanston School for the Science Society Lecture.
The talk was presented by Dr Ian Mabbett, Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Swansea and included the development of new solar energy capture and storage technologies.
Students found out how new chemical compounds developed in 2014, are being put to use in test projects as an alternative to conventional silicon based solar panels, and how wall coatings can be engineered to absorb and then store heat using salt solution.
The talk also included updates on the projects under test by the SPECIFIC collaboration.

The Science department was transformed last Wednesday to display the efforts of Year 8 in the annual EXPO event. Students undertook their own scientific investigations or constructed models to explain an aspect of science that fascinates them. Votes were cast by students, staff and an expert panel of judges with winners and runners up to be announced in the final week of term.

Students in Year 9 have their End-of-Year Science test between Tuesday 10th and Friday 13th July. This single test, completed in class will cover the first GCSE topics taught this year; B1, C1 and P1. Students have been revising in class and for homework, but a final push using their revision guides and other resources will help to ensure they are thoroughly prepared. Good luck to all Year 9 students.
45 Year 9 students visited WeymouthCollege yesterday as part of a funded event to give them the chance to experience a hands-on taste of the careers which interest them. We look forward to returning next year! @SUN_Admin @bournemouthuni @DorsetCC
Tickets are now on sale for this excellent event! Please check out the flyer below….
